FAQs
What does the free trial include?
You can try GroupNews absolutely free for 7 days. Once your trial period is over, a Group administrator or owner—typically you if you set up the Group—will need to subscribe to a plan in order for your Group to continue using GroupNews.
Note: The 30 day trial has all the features and functionality of the Premium plan. It does not include Enterprise plan features like single sign-on and directory sync.
Can I have a longer trial period?
All new Groups start with a 7 day free trial. By completing certian tasks in GroupNews during your trial, not only do you learn the platform, but you earn additional days on your free trial, extending to up to 21 days.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No, you do not need to provide a credit card to sign up and get started with GroupNews.
Once your trial period is over, you will need to subscribe to your group’s plan at that time with a credit card to continue to use GroupNews.
How exactly does the plan pricing work?
It depends. If you opt for a Lite plan, you will be charged $5 per person in your Group, per month. There are no limits on the number of people in your Group when you have a Lite plan. That said, if your Group gets big enough, you might want to consider switching to a Premium or Enterprise plan. We’ll let you know when it might make sense for you to make that switch.
Both the Premium and Enterprise plans have a flat-rate, predictable price. There are no per-person charges on either of those plans. When you opt for a Premium or Enterprise plan, you can have up to 500 people in your Group.
If you have a particularly large organization, and you need to accomodate more than 500 people in your Group, contact us and we’ll be happy to set up a custom plan for you to suit your needs.
What is a Group member?
A Group member is simply a person who has joined your Group. Members can join your Group by being invited by a Group administrator, having an email address at a domain you approve, or in the case of an Enterprise plan, added via directory sync.
Do you offer a discount?
While the prices you see here reflect per-month costs, when you opt for either the Premium or Enterprise plans, you can choose either monthly or yearly billing. If you select yearly billing, you’ll save $50 per month the monthly price. That’s $600 per year back in your pocket! How cool is that?
What if I want to cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your GroupNews plan at any time without any hassle in your Group settings.
When cancel your Group’s subscription plan, it will continue to be active until the period you’ve paid for has lapsed, so you can keep using GroupNews until then. Once that period has lapsed, your subscription will not renew, and your Group will be placed into Read Only mode. You will still be able to access content that was posted while your subscription was active, but nobody in your Group will be able to post any new content.
More details can be found in our cancellation policy.
Do you prorate charges for changes to the number of members in a Group?
If you're subscribed to the Lite plan, then, yes we do*! In that case, when the number of members in your Group changes, you’ll be charged a prorated amount for the time your additional member is active.
For example, say your Group has 10 members at the beginning of the month. At $5/person/month, that would be $50 per month. If you add another member halfway through the month, that would bring your subscription to $55/month. However, for that month that you made the change, you would be billed a total of $52.50, as follows:
- $50 for the 10 members you started the month with
- +$2.50 prorated charge for the additional member for the second half the month
As a group administrator, you can always see your estimated upcoming charges in your group's settings, including any applicable proration details.
*If you’re subscribed to the Premium or Enterprise plans, those are flat rate plans, so there is no proration necessary.
Do group invitations count towards my billed total?
No, not until a person you invite accepts your invitation. Once that happens, they will be added to your group as a member, and count towards the total number of members in your group.
