FAQs
What does the free trial include?
You can try GroupNews absolutely free for 30 days. Once your trial period is over, a Group administrator or owner—typically you if you set up the Group—will need to subscribe to a plan in order for your Group to continue using GroupNews.
Note: The 30 day trial has all the features and functionality of the Premium plan. It does not include Enterprise plan features like single sign-on and directory sync.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No, you do not need to provide a credit card to sign up and get started with GroupNews.
Once your trial period is over, you will need to subscribe to your group’s plan at that time with a credit card to continue to use GroupNews.
How exactly does the plan pricing work?
Every GroupNews plan has a base price which includes a generous number of members. When your Group grows larger than your plan’s base member count, additional blocks of members will be automatically added to your plan for an additional fee. The number of members in the base and additional blocks, as well as the price of each, is different for each plan. See each plan’s details for the specifics.
Use the pricing calculator above to see what each plan would cost based on the number of members in your group.
What is a Group member?
A Group member is simply a person who has joined your Group. Members can join your Group by being invited by a Group administrator, having an email address at a domain you approve, or in the case of an Enterprise plan, added via directory sync.
Do you offer a discount?
While the prices you see here reflect per-month costs, you can choose either monthly or yearly billing for your account. If you opt for yearly billing, you’ll save 10% off the monthly price. How cool is that?
What if I want to cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your GroupNews plan at any time without any hassle in your group’s settings.
Once you cancel your group’s subscription plan, your Group will be in Read Only mode. You will still be able to access content that was posted while your subscription was active, but nobody in your Group will be able to post any new content. More details can be found in our cancellation policy.
Do you prorate charges for changes to the number of members in a group?
Absolutely. When the number of members in your Group goes beyond your subscription’s base allowance, you’re charged prorated amounts for the time your additional member block is active.
For example, say your Group has a Premium plan, and there are 100 members at the beginning of the month. That’s covered by the base price of $300/month. If you add another member halfway through the month, that change would require an additional block of members for your group. In the Premium plan, each additional block of members is $50/month, so adding an additional block would bring your subscription to $350/month. However, for that month that you made the change, you would be billed a total of $325, as follows:
- $300 for the base block members
- +$25 prorated charge for the additional block of members for the second half the month
As a group administrator, you can always see your estimated upcoming charges in your group's settings, including any applicable proration details.
Why does a Lite plan max out at 100 members?
The GroupNews Lite plan is geared towards keeping up with the news from your family and friends—the people with whom you have meaningful relationships. If you need more than 100 people in your group, consider a Premium plan.
Do group invitations count towards my billed total?
No, not until a person you invite accepts your invitation. Once that happens, they will be added to your group as a member, and count towards the total number of members in your group.
